Biographie
Bessie Sims Nakamarra est née (c.1932 -2012). Elle est une doyenne importante de Yuendumu tant pour les cérémonies que d’un point de vue artistique.
Mariée à Paddy Sims Japaljarri, un très grand artiste de Yuendumu (collection du Musée du Quai Branly, à Paris), ses peintures représentent souvent le Rêve de la Pomme de terre du Bush « Ngarlaji Jukurrpa ».
Ngarlaji est une petite plante qui pousse le long des cours d’eau et a une tubercule comestible ressemblant à une pomme de terre ou à une igname. Des femmes de peau Nakamarra et Napurrula sont montrées creusant par endroit à Wapurtali.
